Little Byzantium

Each of these analog collages uses an illustrated page from Frances Burnett’s Little Lord Fauntleroy as the foundation for subconscious image association derived from the Larousse Encyclopedia of Medieval and Byzantine Art. The project started with the challenge of pairing unlikely sources and became a meditation on the unexpected overlaps between the texts, particularly around themes of empire, women, and wealth.
